Why building foundations is so important for small businesses

Ever feel like your business is a Jenga tower? One false move and it will tumble over, and you’ll be left to pick up the pieces and pick up wherever it fell?


Well the good news is that, usually, that’s not the case. However, you could be missing vital pieces as you try to build too much too soon, and you could lose all the progress you had made on a venture that wasn’t the right path. For example, you could spend a lot of money on billboards, and because they didn’t convey your product or service well, you would lose that money and be back to square one. You were doing what a book or a successful businessman had told you is the next step, yet it didn’t yield anything fruitful. 


We’ll tell you straight off the bat - you may have money for advertising but as a small business, billboards are a huge investment. And even if you did invest in one and it does drive people to your site, are you sure that it’s set up for the best conversion rate? And if the emails aren’t warming up leads you’ve gathered, you’re making the biggest marketing sin of all - an untouched email list of people who have already shown interest in your company*. All of these are contingent on each other, and work together to make your business stand out above others, and if even one is misaligned, can make or break a sale.
